Today, I continued to work on drawing the fabric. I have started to understand the mark more and how the artist used controlled directional hatching in order to create value and form. I have noticed how rather than abrupty stopping a thick line, the artist would slowly lighten the mark by continously applying less pressure until the line blended seamlessly. I think that I have been failing to do this, leading to a lot of the shading in my piece looking out of place and abrupt. I hope to further explore this during the next studio day.
